Casualty fans have a lot to say about unexpected new pairing
Casualty fans have had a lot to say about a surprise moment in the medical drama’s new boxset and no, I’m not talking about those delightful pink scrubs Rash Masum (Neet Mohan) now wears.
Lethal Legacy kicked off two weeks ago, and introduced brand new storylines following a devastating end to the previous mini series, which saw new resident doctor Kim Chang (Jasmine Bayes) die after battling her eating disorder.
After fellow newbie Matty Linklater (Aaron Julius) found Kim unconscious, he discovered that her rapid deterioation was as a result of misusing weight-loss drugs. Kim died in resus.
Two people struggling with Kim’s sudden and traumatic death at the start of the new boxset were Matty and Stevie Nash (Elinor Lawless), who spent weeks as Kim’s mentor.
After the team spent the day trying to deal with what appeared to be the start of a new pandemic, Matty and Stevie were seen kissing passionately behind an ambulance.
It happened at the same time Dylan Keogh (William Beck) was telling Flynn Byron (Olly Rix) about Matty being his son. He felt hopeful about his new dynamic with Matty, and was looking forward to exploring their relationship, totally oblivious as to what his son was up to.
Matty and Stevie’s sex scandal continued in the most recent episode, which aired on May 2. It has sparked a lot of reaction from fans online, and suffice to say quite a lot of them would’ve preferred it if this didn’t happen.
Over on Casualty’s Instagram page, this audience member wrote: ‘I’m so glad I’m not the only one who really doesn’t want this’.

Hannah said: ‘stevie why???? I love you sm but matty???’.
Real.
Predicting more drama for Stevie, this person added: ‘STEVIE NO!!! this won’t end well’.

Over on X, the view was being echoed.
Shel said: ‘Nothing will ever make me like this Stevie and Matty pairing, absolutely nothing! Zero chemistry like zero #casualty’.
Jess wrote: ‘stevie what the hell is wrong with you (affectionately) #Casualty’.
Given the fact Stevie and Matty’s fling has started in the middle of their grieving journies for Kim, I’d be very surprised to see them suddenly announce that they’re an official couple.
Are you here for Matty and Stevie?
-
Erm, no way
-
Yes definitely!
Does that mean this story will end in tears for the both of them?
Elsewhere, former Emmerdale star Mark Womack has joined the show, playing the role of domineering Colonel Jack Bard, whose powerful hold over his subordinates, and to Flynn threaten to shake the bedrock of the ED.
