Young & Restless Alum Conner Floyd Teases DAYS Debut as Chad: ‘Get Your Popcorn Ready!’
With Conner Floyd’s debut as the new Chad DiMera on Days of Our Lives just over a month away — his first episode drops on Tuesday, April 21 — the soap posted a video of the actor on its official Instagram touting the exciting story that lies ahead for the character. And in the video, Floyd had a special message he wanted to share with viewers personally.
New Kid on the Block
Before joining the cast of DAYS, Floyd was best known to soap fans for playing Chance Chancellor on Young and Restless, which he did from November 2021 until the character was killed off in July 2025. He then headed over to DAYS to step into the shoes of the previous Chad, Billy Flynn, who had himself jumped to Y&R as a recast Cane Ashby in June 2025.
“What is going on, Salem?” Floyd enthused in the video clip. “My name is Conner Floyd, and I am very, very happy to announce that starting in April, I will be airing as the one and only Chad DiMera. And man, I’ve been waiting to say that for a long time.
“I’m very thankful to be a part of the DAYS family,” he continued. “Thank you for this opportunity. I’m very excited for you guys to see what the storylines we’ve been working on [are]. Man, we’ve got some cool stuff coming.” He cheekily advised, “Get your popcorn ready!”
Floyd also added that he is well aware of how important Chad is to the canvas of DAYS and that joining one of the soap’s core families is not something he takes lightly. “Very honored to be part of the DiMera legacy as well,” he said. “I understand there’s a weight to that. I’m ready to carry the name, and I know I’ve got big shoes to fill. I’m up for the challenge. I’ve been bringing it. I will continue to bring it for you guys. Thank you for all the love and support that I’ve gotten so far. You guys have been very welcoming and kind, and I truly appreciate that. See you in the Brady Pub!”
In the comments to the Instagram post, some of his new DAYS co-stars and former Y&R castmates chimed in alongside the fans to welcome him to Salem. “Bout damn time!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾” declared Sean Dominic (Nate, Y&R). Eric Martsolf (Brady) wrote, “What up, Chad.” And Adam Huss (ex-Nikolas, General Hospital) cheered, “Yes. 🙌 Well deserved. Look at you brotha! 🔥” He also received warm words from his real-life fiancée, Carly Frei. “LETS GO!!!!!!!!!” she commented, then added, “Can’t wait to watch!❤️❤️❤️”
