Virgin River actor Callum Kerr ‘grieving the loss’ of his mother and stepfather, who were found dead in France

Callum Kerr is breaking his silence following a tragic loss in his family.

On Saturday, the Virgin River actor took to Instagram with a statement addressing the recent death of his mother and stepfather.

“At this time, Callum Kerr and Amanda Kerr are grieving the loss of their mother, Dawn Searle (née Smith, Kerr), while Tom Searle and Ella Searle are mourning the loss of their father, Andrew Searle,” the statement said. “No family member is available for media interviews or comments. We kindly request that their privacy be respected during this difficult period.”

They added: “We will provide updates where appropriate. Thank you for your understanding.”

The update comes after a Friday report from BBC revealed that British couple Andrew and Dawn Searle, residents of France, had been found dead at their home in the village of Les Pesquiès, south of Villefranche-de-Rouergue the previous day. Authorities were called to the scene after the couple didn’t show up for a scheduled dog walk with a neighbor.

Per the outlet, the couple’s bodies were found by a neighbor at 12:20 on Thursday. Numerous investigative resources were dispatched to the scene including a helicopter, a drone, criminal investigation technicians, a forensic doctor, and a public prosecutor. Police have yet to comment on the cause of death however local mayor, Jean-Sébastien Orcibal has dismissed speculation that the deaths were due to a burglary “gone wrong,” additionally telling BBC that “no knife was found.”

Per The Guardian, public prosecutor Nicolas Rigot-Muller also addressed the speculation on Friday, telling members of the press, “Both died violent deaths, but I cannot establish that either was a homicide. All hypotheses remain open.”

The couple, both retired and in their 60s, moved to France from Scotland around a decade ago. Andrew was previously a fraud investigator while Dawn worked in project management.

Entertainment Weekly has reached out to Kerr for further comment.

Kerr, a country singer best known for roles in Virgin River, Monarch, and Hollyoaks, walked his mother down the aisle at her 2023 wedding to Searles.
