In May of 2025, we reported one of the most anticipated recasts in a very long time, that The Young and the Restless alum Rory Gibson (ex-Noah) had been hired to take over the role of General Hospital’s Michael from Chad Duell. And ever since the daytime star stepped in as the legacy character, he’s not only made it his own but has done it with the approval of many, many fans.
On April 2, Gibson took to his official Instagram to post a ton of pics to mark “one year down at this job” and expressed just how much he “loves this job” and “loves these people.” A few of his castmates jumped into the comments to send their love as Gibson celebrated one year taping scenes as Michael, including Tabyana Ali (Trina), who cheered, “Everyday is a party with you, big dawg!” Katelyn MacMullen (Willow) sent a sentiment as well and stated, “Love you, hallmate,” as Kate Mansi (Kristina) added, “Love you, bro! (not by blood?),” with Kristen Vaganos (Molly) echoing, “Love you, cousin. (not by blood).” And even his former The Young and the Restless pal, Michelle Stafford (Phyllis, ex-Nina) shared, “We love you, Rory.”

While Gibson may have begun his journey at General Hospital a year ago, his first official airdate as Michael went down on May 20 when a man was seen watching footage of the Nurses Ball. And later that week, Michael crashed the ball — and stunned everyone, especially Willow, by picking up Wiley and stating, “Come on, we are going home.”

We’ve enjoyed watching Gibson in Port Charles and hope he remains there for many years to come!
