Chaos erupts in Summer Bay when John Palmer’s confidence in his own handyman abilities leads to a catastrophe that forces him out of his home after 16 years. What begins as a simple bathroom renovation quickly spirals into a disaster that leaves John homeless — and Leah and Justin with an unexpected long-term house guest.

The trouble starts when Justin notices John rushing around the beach, clearly in a hurry. John explains he needs to pack up early so he can make it to a tile shop before closing. Proudly, he reveals his ambitious plan: he’s renovating his bathroom himself. Despite Justin’s concerns, John brushes off any doubts. He insists tradies are too expensive and claims he’s fully prepared after binge-watching online tutorials. Even when he tries to recruit Justin for help, Justin politely declines, sensing the project is far bigger than John realizes.

Later, John returns with a car loaded with tiles, and before long he ropes Justin — and even Cash — into helping unload everything.
