On the Thursday, March 26, episode of General Hospital, the aftermath of Marco’s (Adrian Anchondo) death and Jason’s (Steve Burton) exit rippled through Port Charles. Nathan (Ryan Paevey) talked Lulu (Alexa Havins) out of making a major mistake, Sonny (Maurice Benard) sought out Ric’s (Rick Hearst) help, Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) had tense conversations with Tracy (Jane Elliot) and Carly (Laura Wright), Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) began the PCPD’s investigation into Marco’s murder by questioning Sidwell (Carlo Rota) and Lucas (Van Hansis), and Josslyn (Eden McCoy) encouraged Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) to take matters into her own hands. Check out how it all went down.

Better Together

At Sonny’s house the morning after Jason was taken by the WSB, he and Carly speculated about what could have gone so horribly wrong with Jason’s exit plan. Sonny promised her that he was working on tracking down their friend, but Carly wasn’t happy when Ric arrived and learned that Sonny had asked his brother for assistance. When Carly protested that she didn’t trust him, Ric replied that he was trying to rebuild his relationship with his brother and vowed to do everything in his power to help Jason. Satisfied for the time being, Carly told Sonny that she wouldn’t stand in the way if he really believed working with Ric was the best for Jason. Before leaving, she told Sonny she’d let him know what Jack said once she spoke with him, and begged Ric to do whatever it took to help Jason.

Next, Ric informed Sonny that according to international law, the WSB had the authority to take Jason into custody since he’d shot one of their operatives, and the bureau didn’t even need to disclose where they brought the prisoner. When Ric added that there was little to no legal recourse to get Jason back, Sonny told his brother that Cullum was a double agent working as Jenz Sidwell’s partner, had tried to kill him twice, and was responsible for the firebomb at the penthouse that burned Michael.

Ric questioned why his brother hadn’t yet killed Sidwell, and Sonny explained he was being blackmailed with fabricated murder evidence — and another person (Laura) was also involved, whom he couldn’t name. While he couldn’t go after Sidwell, Sonny added, he could go after Cullum since no link between them would alert the cops. The plan had been for Jason to kill the WSB director on his way out of town, and he didn’t know what went wrong. Noting that Sidwell was going to think the Corinthos organization was crippled with Jason gone, Sonny asked Ric to be his secret weapon in bringing down Sidwell and Cullum. Agreeing to help, Ric professed, “If Cullum lives, he and Sidwell are going to think they’re holding all the cards. But they aren’t. They don’t know what you and I can do.”

Don’t Speak

Lulu tried to use her position with the Port Charles Press to get an update on Cullum’s condition, but was unsuccessful. Nathan stopped by to check on things, and she shared that Rocco had told her everything about shooting Cullum. Since Nathan had only seen Rocco holding the gun, Lulu filled him in on exactly what had happened when Rocco shot Cullum to protect Jason and Britt. She pointed out that Rocco had acted in self-defense, but Nathan warned her that since they had no proof, coming forward would destroy Rocco’s life. Nathan added that Jason was choosing to protect Rocco; he hadn’t fought back when the WSB took him away in shackles, and because Britt had been unconscious during the shooting, her statement that she saw Jason shoot Cullum meant that Jason told her to say that. When Lulu huffed that she couldn’t let Jason die in a WSB prison because he was protecting her son, Nathan replied that Jason was doing a selfless thing by repaying Rocco. “Do not let his sacrifice be in vain,” Nathan urged. “Especially if Cullum dies.”

Repeating History?

Alexis filled in Tracy about what happened to Jason and shared that he’d named her as Danny’s legal guardian. Tracy lamented that although she’d been anticipating something like this happening for years, she couldn’t believe that Jason was gone. She wanted to know if Jason had been physically hurt, and Alexis reassured her that he was stoic, like he always was, but worried about Danny. The women then began bickering again about whose home Danny would be better off in. When Tracy threatened to fight Alexis over the decision, the attorney questioned whether she really wanted to hurt Danny that way, when the teen needed all their support, and promised to let the Quartermaines see Danny whenever they wanted. After that, Carly arrived, wanting to know who Danny would be living with. Upon hearing that Alexis was granted guardianship and planned to give Danny structure, Carly advised her not to enforce too many rules on the teen after his life was upended yet again, or she’d be making the same mistake that Alan and Monica had made with Jason. Instead, she suggested Alexis loosen the reins and be a safe space for Danny. After Carly exited, Tracy commented that Carly wasn’t wrong about Danny being Jason’s son and chuckled that Alexis had her work cut out for her.

Pointing Fingers

Lucas spent the night at Ava’s condo. The next morning, he lamented to his aunt about the plans he and Marco had made, what a good place they’d been in, and how glad he was that Marco knew how much he loved him. He blamed himself for his boyfriend’s death, but Ava tried to convince her nephew that the only person to blame was the monster who’d killed Marco, and to let the PCPD start their investigation. Replying that the investigation had already started, Lucas said that Dante wanted to question him at the police station, and he was going to tell them to look into Marco’s father.

Meanwhile, Commissioner Falconeri was asking one of his officers to box up all of the evidence from Cullum’s shooting so the PCPD could keep it and not turn it over to the WSB when Sidwell waltzed in, demanding to know if the police had arrested Marco’s murderer. Once they moved into the interrogation room, Dante asked if Sidwell’s son had any enemies, and Sidwell immediately named Sonny, recalling Marco’s alleged abduction last summer. Dante pointed out that Marco was stabbed multiple times in his place of work, which happened to be the shared offices of Sonny’s attorney and the mother of one of his children. Sidwell seethed when Dante stated that the possibility that Sonny or one of his associates would attack Marco at Miller & Davis was highly unlikely, then ordered the commissioner to recuse himself from the investigation for being too biased. Refusing to be bossed around, Dante speculated that Sidwell had a long list of other enemies and asked if there was anyone else who would have attacked Marco to get to him.

Pushing the issue, Sidwell instructed Dante to confirm the whereabouts of his father and Jason Morgan during the time of Marco’s attack. When Dante countered that Sonny had no reason to go after Marco again now that he and Sidwell were supposedly getting along after the sale of the piers, the grieving father snapped that it was for the department to figure out Sonny’s notice. Lucas arrived as Sidwell was leaving the station. Pulling Lucas in for a hug, a teary Jenz thanked him for loving Marco and declared that Wyndemere would always be his home, leaving Lucas speechless.

Next, Dante interviewed Lucas in the interrogation room and asked him if Sidwell had any enemies. But rather than name Jenz as a suspect (as he’d told Ava he’d do), Lucas claimed that he and Marco never talked about his father’s business, and Marco would never be involved in something illegal. Dante also asked about Sonny, but Lucas said there didn’t seem to be any residual anger there. Wrapping up, Dante promised that the department would bring Marco’s killer to justice, and Lucas whispered that it had to happen.

After leaving the PCPD, a grieving Jenz went to see Ava. Breaking down, he sobbed that the vicious way Marco had died was someone sending a message and wondered if he’d been responsible for getting his son killed.

The Missing Link

Britt was looking at Cullum’s digital file in her office when Josslyn showed up, wanting details about what happened to Jason. Britt gave her a condensed version, but Josslyn yelled that she needed to know everything and they’d have to work together if there was any chance of saving Jason and the other people they loved who were now in danger. Britt then explained how Lucas and Marco had been involved in getting her medication, and she and Jason were about to leave town, but Cullum somehow figured it out and tracked her to the pier to kill her.

Joss questioned why Britt would tell the police that Jason had shot Cullum. Britt explained how Jason had insisted she say that — even though she didn’t actually see it happen — and cried that she and Jason were so close to being free before things went horribly wrong. Putting together the pieces, Josslyn deduced that Cullum was the one who killed Marco, and the fact that Cullum took a calculated risk in killing his partner’s son was information they could use. Britt moaned that if Cullum killed Marco, nothing would stop him from killing her or going after everyone connected to the situation. Then, Josslyn remarked that Cullum was lying unconscious in the ICU and, as a doctor, Britt had access to him. “Maybe you should use it,” Josslyn suggested.
