General Hospital: Bradford Anderson Is ‘Grateful’ For Upcoming Spinelli, Maxie, and Nathan Storyline

Since debuting as Damian Spinelli on General Hospital back in 2006, Bradford Anderson has been a favorite among viewers. After going from contract to recurring status back in 2013, his appearances on the soap have grown more sporadic, so fans are thrilled that he’s got a juicy new storyline coming up now that Maxie (Kirsten Storms) has emerged from her coma and is poised to be torn between the two great loves of her life — Spinelli and her back-from-the-dead husband, Nathan (Ryan Paevey). The actor weighed in on the likely triangle during a recent episode of the That’s Awesome podcast he co-hosts with co-star and friend Steve Burton (Jason).
Brace for Impact
Acknowledging the uptick in his screen time now that leading lady Storms is back at the studio following her hiatus, Anderson remarked, “People have been asking, ‘When is Spinelli coming back?’ ‘Is it true Spinelli’s coming back, or was that just clickbait?’” The actor added with a self-deprecating “Well, if people are saying Spinelli’s coming back, hoping it will generate a lot of clicks, think again. That’s terrible clickbait!”
But fans certainly have been waiting to see what Spinelli’s romantic future holds. Comatose since August 2025, Maxie regained consciousness last week, much to Spinelli’s relief and joy. “His beloved woke up!” Anderson enthused during his chat with Burton. “She’s awake, man!” Of course, Maxie waking up opens up a whole new can of worms given that Nathan is in the mix, having shown up in Port Charles after a seven-year absence while she was lingering in said coma.
“I figure there might be a day of like, ‘Yaaay!’” Anderson mused of Spinelli’s reaction to his beloved’s reawakening. “But, of course, you immediately have to think of like, ‘Oh, crap. When do we tell her [about Nathan]? Who should tell her? And do I want to see how she responds when we do tell her? That’s gonna suck!’”
As viewers saw, it was actually Felicia (Kristina Wagner) who had the honor of filling in her daughter about Nathan’s shocking resurrection while Spinelli brought James (Gary James Fuller) and Georgie (Lily Fisher) home from the long-term care facility in Boston. And as he has been awaiting Maxie’s return to Port Charles, Spinelli has also been dreading losing her and the family they’ve built together, assuming that she will opt to reunite with Nathan.
“But thus begins a cool little arc,” Anderson previewed. “So I’m excited for you guys to see what happens over the next week or so, and I’m really grateful that they wrote it so well.”
