A LEGENDARY TRIBUTE? JACK P SHEPHERD HINTS AT A STUNNING CONNECTION FOR HIS BABY’S NAME!
Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd has shared a potential baby name that would be “ballsy” for his first child with wife Hanni, making it a “brilliant” tribute to the soap.
The David Platt star and his wife chose not to know the sex of the baby, but have been throwing around potential names for the new arrival. Speaking on the On the Sofa podcast that Shepherd co-hosts with Corrie co-star Ben Price and former co-star Colson Smith, the actor shared a “funny” suggestion he’d received.
“It was suggested that… I actually thought it would be funny,” he began before revealing that the couple have been considering David, the name of his Corrie character.
“David. David P Shepherd. Don’t you think that would be f**king brilliant? The balls, the ballsy-ness,” he said before adding: “Even better, David Jr.”
As his co-hosts encouraged him to go for P as the baby’s middle name or to opt for Davina if it was a girl, the conversation moved quickly onto what names are a no-no for the couple.
“No, you avoid picking baby names based on people you don’t like,” Shepherd said, also discussing the idea of naming their baby after a film character.
“Yeah, I don’t think we’ve had discussions or it has to be from a film. I don’t think we’ve had that. You sort of just say names and throw them around,” he continued.
“I mean, you do what everyone does. You google ‘baby names’”.
Shepherd and Hanni met on Corrie when she worked as a storyline writer and researcher and they tied the knot in Manchester in July 2025. The soap star also has three children from previous relationships.
While the Shepherds haven’t set on a name just yet, Jack’s character David and his wife Shona decided to call their baby girl Harper after the surgeon who helped to safely deliver her.
