đ„đ BOSTON BLUE BOMBSHELL: The Reagans Are NOT Done Yet! đ±đ

Blue Bloods might be over but CBS has since expanded the universe with Boston Blue â but which characters are reprising their roles in the spinoff?
Blue Bloods, which premiered in 2010, followed the lives of the Reagan family, many of whom worked for the NYPD under the leadership of NYC police commissioner Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck). Frankâs father, Henry Reagan (Len Cariou), have been central to the show alongside Frankâs children: daughter Erin Reagan (Bridget Moynahan) and sons Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) and Jamie Reagan (Will Estes).
Speculation that Blue Bloods would end started in 2023 when the police procedural was renewed after the cast and producers agreed to take a 25 percent pay cut. Wahlberg exclusively told Us Weekly in April 2023 that he hoped to see Blue Bloods achieve the same level of success as Law and Order: Special Victims Unit.
âI mean, Ice-T and Mariska Hargitay have been going for gosh, so many years, and we hope to last as long as they have,â he shared at the time. âOne of the things Iâve done is I try to just stay very present in each episode and take each script that comes my way and say, âOK, whatâs gonna happen now? You know, what am I doing this week?â And kind of find the journey in that particular episode and not get caught up in whatâs gonna happen next year, whatâs gonna happen in two years.â
Wahlberg noted that he wasnât opposed to the idea of a Blue Bloods spinoff, joking, âDanny and Erin become private investigators and move to Hawaii, but that was too close to [Selleckâs iconic 1980s series] Magnum, P.I., so we didnât want to do that one.â
After Blue Bloods ended in December 2024, Wahlberg got his wish with Boston Blue. CBS announced in February 2025 that Boston Blue was ordered straight to series and would expand the Blue Bloods universe as Danny âtakes on a positionâ with the Boston P.D.
âIt will be a Danny Reagan-based show, but the Reagans are only a phone call away, and Danny Reagan likes to use the phone, thatâs all Iâll say,â Wahlberg teased on the âMorning Magic with Sue and Kendraâ podcast in April 2025. âI canât tell a lot of stuff about it other than at this point, Iâm very humbled to be producing the show with Jerry Bruckheimer and some incredible writers and producers known as the Brandons. Itâs an honor to keep the Blue Bloods tradition alive, and I think thatâs what Iâll be doing with the show.â

Danny Reagan
âSo excited to carry on the tradition, to share so many surprises, to answer some unanswered questions and to welcome all of you â to #BostonBlue!â Wahlberg wrote via Instagram in March 2025. âThe next chapter in the #BlueBloods legacy begins. I canât wait. See you CBS fall! .â
Erin Reagan
Moynahan is set to star on Original Sound but has previously shown support for more episodes of Blue Bloods.
âI think weâre all a little disappointed,â Moynahan told People in September 2024. âWeâve had such a good time. We all want to be there. Itâs a real loss. This was our daily lives for 14 years. And weâve all experienced together major life moments together, whether itâs births, deaths, marriages, divorces, illnesses, weâve had it all together.â
It was confirmed in July 2025 that Moynahan will make a guest appearance and direct an episode.
Jamie Reagan
Will Estes is one of many Blue Bloods stars who expressed interest in reprising their role. Wahlberg specifically addressed the speculation, writing via Instagram, âHeâd better come visit his big brother.â
Henry Reagan
While Len Cariou hasnât been announced as a cast member on Boston Blue, he previously expressed disappointment with the OG CBS series coming to an end, telling TV Insider in November 2024, âItâs too bad. Doesnât make any sense. Weâre still, I think, the best-watched show on Friday nights, even though weâre canceled.â
Frank Reagan
Selleck is currently in development on a new installment of the Jesse Stone movie franchise. He hasnât ruled out a return though.
âIâm open to suggestions, because I love Frank Reagan, but nobodyâs really asked,â he admitted to Parade in December 2024. âI donât see him retiring and going off somewhere.â
Eddie Janko-Reagan
âI would do anything with these people,â Ray told TV Insider in October 2024 about joining a Blue Bloods spinoff. âSo, yes, of course. I donât know what world it would make sense for Eddie to be in a spinoff at all. But if they need to put me in a wig and dye my eyebrows and Iâll play a different character just so I get to hang out with all of them more, then Iâll do it.â
Maria Baez
Marisa Ramirez hasnât been cast in Boston Blue but has made it very clear that she would return as fans hold out hope for a romance between her character and Wahlbergâs.
Joe Hill
Will Hochman sparked speculation that he would reprise his character after Wahlberg wrote to him via Instagram comments, â@willhochman my guy â counting on you to come visit your uncle on screen!â In response, Hochman replied in March 2025, â@donniewahlberg Iâm fueling up the Chevelle as we speak!â
